Writing in my Zombie Era

Writing while Dead...

Well, not literally dead, but dead-tired. It’s almost impossible to retain positive momentum when you’re literally in your Zombie Era. When you’re constantly burning the midnight oil to meet a deadline, juggling a hectic schedule, or simply dealing with the fatigue that life often throws your way, forcing yourself to sit down and add words to a page sounds like torture – not fun.

Fear not! We’re going to explore some strategies and techniques to help you tap into your creativity and produce quality writing even when you’re exhausted.

Embrace Your Inner Zombie

The first step to writing when you’re exhausted is to acknowledge your condition. If you try to deny your fatigue, you only open yourself up to frustration and writer’s block. Accept that you’re tired and cut yourself some slack. A tired mind is not an empty mind; it’s simply one that’s temporarily running low on fuel.

Zombie self-care

Rest, hydrate, and nourish your body. Before putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard, take a moment to prioritize your self-care. A short power nap, a brisk walk, or some deep breathing exercises can rejuvenate your mind and provide the energy you need to write effectively.

Zombie Goals

Again, you are temporarily in your Zombie Era. Now is not the time to set goals and expectations as if you are vibrant and full of life. Exhaustion can make even the simplest tasks seem daunting. Adjust your expectations and set realistic writing goals for the session. Remember, a few well-crafted sentences are better than a page of mediocre writing. It’s all about quality over quantity.

Into The Zombie Zone

Your writing space plays a crucial role in your productivity. Create a comfortable writing environment by ensuring it’s clean, organized, and free from distractions. Comfortable seating, good lighting, and ambient background music can all contribute to a more conducive atmosphere.

Small Zombie Bites

Instead of aiming for a marathon writing session, break your writing into shorter, manageable bites. Short, focused sprints can help maintain your concentration when you’re tired. Try the Pomodoro Technique, which
involves working for 25 minutes, and then taking a 5-minute break.

Writing while exhausted can feel like slogging through a field of undead writing corpses. Simply acknowledging your Zombie Era, practicing self-care, and implementing some rejuvenating and creative strategies can greatly increase your chances of producing quality writing while dead. Congratulations! You’ve survived your personal Zombie Apocalypse!
